My oldest son is autistic and boundlessly creative. He entered a create a character contest and won a sweatshirt for joey the pirate monkey. Now we act out stories using his characters and film it with the video camera.
He even has a name for the production company he wants to start to create and publish his films: Silly Boy Productions. I am proud beyond words of all of his achievements and encourage him in any way possible.
Our current project is making DVDs of what we have filmed thus far for Christmas gifts for everyone who knows him. I really want this to be something he can do as a living because he is good at it and I don't really know what else he could achieve much by doing. I wish there were more options for him but with his very narrow focus, I don't really see any others.
This afternoon he wants to film a Christmas special Joey Saves the Snow Monkey so that will be a fun project for a rainy day as it is downpouring right now. I will continue to post episodes of Joey the Pirate Monkey as we finish creating them and maybe even move to selling them for public consumption.
